Sara GraySara Gray
Carpenter's Music Academy Administrator

Sara is the new Music Academy administrator. She understands the importance of private music instruction and strives to keep the academy the best that it can be.

Sara is a senior at the University of Nevada, Reno studying Anthropology with a minor in Music. Her musical career began when she started playing flute in 4th grade. Her main instrument is Oboe and took private lessons on the instrument for 6 years. She has played in groups such as the Reno Philharmonic Youth Orchestras, the UNR Orchestra, the Reno Pops Orchestra, and she played Piccolo in the UNR Marching Band and Pep Bands.



Clark Kent

Clark has been teaching guitar for 12 years, both privately and in a classroom setting. He has taught in both a classroom setting and privately through Truckee Meadows Community College. Outside of music, he was a fighter pilot with the U.S. Air Force and taught both in a classroom as well as hands on pilot training. He earned his BA of Music from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1999 and has been teaching private music lessons full time since.



Doris LundDoris Lund
Piano and organ instruction

Doris has been playing piano since she was 8 years old and has been playing the organ since she was 12 years old. Doris has been teaching beginning piano and organ for 30 years. Apart from teaching, Doris has been accompanying vocalists as well as instrumentalists since she was 12. She currently plays organ for her church services. She enjoys teaching children and adults and hearing their progress in performing on both the piano and the organ.




Ron Carrete
Guitar and bass instruction

Ron has been playing guitar since he was 16. He began his professional performing career shortly after. Since then he has performed with Frank Sinatra, The Vagabonds, Sammy Davis Jr. Anita O’Day and many other professional musicians. He has studied privately with Barney Kessel, Joe Pass, Johnny Collins and Jimmy Wyble. Ron’s varied playing background in both guitar and bass gives him a lot of styles with which to instruct and teaches students of all ages and levels.



Farida JaminFarida Jamin
Piano and voice instruction

Farida began playing piano at age six. She received her musical education at the Nusantra Music Art Institute and the Yamaha Music Education School. She taught at the Yamaha Music School and Conservatory in Indonesia for 16 years and has over 25 years of teaching experience. Farida teaches Classical, Modern, Gospel and Contemporary styles. She has performed in concert and competition throughout the United States and Indonesia. Currently Farida is the Vice President of the Nevada Music Teachers Association and her students have consistantly received a superior rating in local piano festivals.



Micheya Griffith
Woodwind & Little Mozarts instruction

Micheya is a flute instructor at Carpenter's, as well as a beginning woodwind and piano instructor. She began playing the flute at age 8 and has been teaching private lessons since she was just 15. Micheya graduated with a BA in Music from Biola University where she studied under Gary Woodward. She developed a private music studio in Vacaville, California and was a contract flautist for three seasons with the Solano Community Symphony before relocating to Reno.

Currently, Micheya is the principal flautist with the Reno Pops Orchestra and Director of Educational Outreach. She has also performed with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Reno Municipal Band and the Foundation Orchestra.



Colin RossColin Ross
Guitar, piano, mandolin, dobro and improve instruction

Composer and multi-instrumentalist Colin Ross plays a large and ever-shifting repertoire of original music, jazz standards and blues classics. Beginning with classical piano at the age of five, Colin has continued to study and grow throughout his career, playing a variety of instruments and styles. Colin teaches beginning and intermediate guitar, piano, mandolin, dobro and improve. Colin enjoys teaching students of all ages and skill levels.
