Wendell graduated from Brigham Young Young University in 1965 with a B.A. in Music Education. In 1966, he relocated to Reno, Nevada with his wife, Linda. In January of 1968, he opened C&M Music Center with his brother-in-law, Calvin McBride. In 1985 Wendell bought out his partner and the store was renamed Carpenter’s Music World.
For over 40 years, Wendell has been an advocate of the community and has helped bring the gift of music to young and old alike. If you have questions about finding the right piano for your home, he is here to help.
Debi, our office manager and bookkeeper, has lived in the Reno area since 1985 with her husband and children. Debi is a graduate of TMCC and UNR and has three awesome grandsons. Debi is a crucial member of our team and helps hold everything together. She’s the one to contact for billing and account questions.
Tom has been involved with management in the piano industry for more than 35 years. He has also played professionally for 25 years. After a six year hiatus from Carpenter’s Music World, we’re lucky to have Tom back in the store. As our Sales Manager, he is responsible for piano sales and events, as well as College and Institutional sales. His marketing and sales skills are a great asset to Carpenter’s Music World. We’re happy to have him back!
Justin graduated from Reed High School and currently attends Truckee Meadows Community College. Justin’s love of music includes both writing and playing. Guitars are a particular favorite for Justin, so we’re excited to have him join our team in the guitar department!
David Belanger has been a resident of Reno, Nevada for 45 years. He has been selling instruments large and small, from piccolo to grand pianos, for the last 11 years. He specializes in digital pianos and has an extraordinary flair in the operation, repairing and maintanence of many types of extravagant keyboards, such as the Yamaha Clavinova . He enjoys spending time with people in order to help them to better understand their instruments so that they may get more joy out of their musical experience. If you ever have a question about digital sounds, MIDI or need help figuring out how to record yourself on a digital piano, David is the man with the answers.
Ruth’s takes care of our Sheet Music Department, front counter sales, and instrument rentals. Not only are her responsibilities a big percentage of our everyday business, she is also a very talented musician. Coming to Carpenter’s Music World from a previous music store, her experience in the business has been invaluable.
Julie brings more than 30 years of experience in piano and voice. Her organizational skills are put to good use while assisting the Office Manager, scheduling service calls and deliveries and handling creative design for the store. Julie constantly strives to inspire customers to expand their skills and reach their maximum musical potential. Julie started piano instruction at age 10, and vocal singing training at 16 from renowned instructors. You can often hear her lovely voice in performances in many shows throughout Reno.
One of the two most professional piano delivery personnel in the city. Austin’s responsibilities range from tracking inventory, keeping the warehouse in order, arranging the showrooms, setting up pianos for events, and, of course, deliveries.
